How Much Does a Concrete Driveway Cost in Nassau County?

If your driveway is cracked, sinking, or just looks worn out, you have probably started thinking about what a replacement would cost. On Long Island, concrete driveway prices depend on a few things: the size of the driveway, the condition of the ground underneath, and what finish you want.

Here is a straight breakdown of what to expect in 2026.

Average Cost Range

A standard concrete driveway in Nassau County runs between $8 and $15 per square foot for a basic broom-finish pour. For a typical two-car driveway (about 400 to 600 square feet), that puts you in the $3,200 to $9,000 range.

Stamped or colored concrete costs more, usually $12 to $20 per square foot, because it takes more labor and materials to get the pattern and color right.

Here is a quick reference:

  • Basic broom finish: $8 to $15 per square foot
  • Stamped concrete: $12 to $20 per square foot
  • Exposed aggregate: $10 to $18 per square foot
  • Colored concrete: $10 to $16 per square foot

What Affects the Price

Size matters, but it is not the only factor. A bigger driveway costs more total, but the per-square-foot price usually drops because setup and mobilization costs get spread across more area.

Demolition and removal. If your old driveway needs to come out first, that adds $2 to $4 per square foot. A crew has to break it up, load it, and haul it away before any new work starts.

Base condition. If the ground under your old driveway is soft, washed out, or full of tree roots, it needs to be excavated and re-compacted with fresh gravel. That adds cost, but skipping it is how you end up with a cracked driveway two years later.

Thickness. A standard residential driveway is 4 inches thick. If you park heavy vehicles or equipment, you may need 5 or 6 inches, which uses more concrete and more reinforcement.

Reinforcement. Wire mesh or rebar keeps the slab from cracking apart. Some contractors skip this to save money. We do not.

Finish type. A basic broom finish is the most affordable. Stamped patterns, integral color, or exposed aggregate all add labor and material cost.

How to Get the Best Value

Get at least two or three estimates, and make sure each one includes the same scope. A low bid that skips demolition, base prep, or reinforcement is not a bargain. It is a shortcut that will cost you more later.

Ask every contractor:

  • Is demolition and haul-away included?
  • How thick is the pour?
  • What reinforcement are you using?
  • Are control joints included?
  • Is sealing included or extra?

A good concrete driveway should last 25 to 30 years. The difference between a cheap job and a quality job is usually $1,000 to $2,000 on a typical driveway. Spread that over 25 years and it is not even close to a real decision.
